It’s been over a year since the world was hit by the coronavirus pandemic and while it may feel like we’re living in post-pandemic times, global supply chains are still struggling with COVID-19-related disruptions, from export and freight delays to price increases.
In fact, a study conducted by Freightos Baltic Index found the cost of shipping a container of goods has increased by 80% since November 2020, which is TRIPLE the pre-pandemic price – all of which, will be felt by the American consumer.
Here’s what you should know as a buyer and what we’re doing to mitigate these challenges.
Shipping and Fulfilment
Port congestion and container shortages are being felt around the world, for importers and exporters. As the US is the leading producer and shipper of tree nuts, we at Olam Nuts, have also been affected by the competition from other exporters.
Delays on our end have ranged from 5 to 7 business days, which were made even more difficult with new pick-up requirements, including an extra sanitization step, which only added more time. However, as the COVID-19 situation keeps improving, our customers can expect to receive their shipments with minimal delays.
How Olam Nuts is Managing Shipping Delays
To ensure we are meeting your needs effectively, our team will personally inspect and confirm the order’s dispatch point, estimated time for delivery and the optimal cost, based on whether you will need less-then-truckload (LTL) or full-truckload (FTL) shipping.
If you’re a new customer, our trusted advisors will discuss the best shipping strategy, packaging, carriers, tracking, and optimally managing shipping costs, with you. We also offer services from our third-party trucking partners, who can collectively streamline the shipping process.
We offer two convenient options for shipping:
· Ground freight at live rates per pallet via our third-party trucking partner
· Live FedEx Ground shipping rates for all single bag/carton orders of 25lb/50lbs
1. All the prices are live and transparent as per the trucking partners and you can view the shipping fee before placing the order on the checkout page.
2. Please note, we do not ship to Alaska or Hawaii. If you are located outside the contiguous United States but can arrange with your preferred freight carrier, shipment from any of our warehouses, we will gladly release bulk nuts/bulk seeds to your freight carrier.
