Quinoa is the crown jewel of Andean agriculture. As such, many people in the Andean region take pride in making their livelihood as contributors to the industry. Olam’s Organic Quinoa value chain covers the entire spectrum of contributors – farmers, agronomists, processing operators and many more count on Olam to bring this product they take so much pride in, to market.
We have a network of over 3,000 Organic Quinoa farmers present in all growing regions within Peru. In many instances we have been directly involved in helping the farmers convert their operations to meet the intensive organic standards for the European and North American markets. For farmers like Sosimo & Amedeo, from the Acosvinchos community, in the Ayacucho region of Peru, whom our marketing team went and met this past summer; they have seen improvements in their crop, yields and profits since working with Olam. We make sure to pay fair market prices for their crops and provide the support they need from sowing to harvest to ensure the product is of the highest quality and ready to meet all Organic standards.
Olam has also invested in a state-of-the-art processing facility, with a dedicated team of quality, production and office professionals. With the latest production technology and a BRC AA rating, our quality and production professionals’ talents can really shine when working at our plant. Developing experience that will make them among the most qualified professionals in the business. Our office staff interfaces with Olam International; one of the top agri-businesses in the entire world; honing world class business skills involved with managing a global supply chain.
The marketing team at Olam is what brings these peoples hard work and dedication to life. Our team can bring the value of their efforts to market and help develop the business that will allow their work to thrive. Marketing is responsible for helping all the contributors to our value chain understand what can make their products successful in the global markets. Likewise, they are the ones responsible for helping Quinoa users understand what makes our supply chain unique and worth investing in.
At the end of the day, our marketing team is here to ensure our value chain delivers what our clients need. Whether it be helping our customers receive timely deliveries during the Covid crisis or helping them meet their sustainability and traceability goals with AtSource; we are always listening and working to develop new ways to deliver value to our clients and their consumers.
